I am going to stay here. http://www.harlancountycampground.com/ I will be checking in Wed June 4th and returning on Sunday June 8th. Looking for others with the same goal in mind, and that is seeing lots of trail miles. I may go earlier and find a day or two to go fishing with the kids or zip lining or who knows, but the 4th thru the 8th are set. The plans and the events are all negotiable if you want to plan something too. I am not the make it or break it type. That always ends up taking a too long. I suggest 3 tries and your pulling cable, or maybe 5 minutes and your pulling cable rule, I am flexible, let's just see and ride as much as we can without breaking our junk.

Was on here Thanking John and Mike for guiding us this past weekend in the Cove and came across this. I normally go to Iowa that week (so already got off for vacation), but thinking of doing something different and closer to home due to some of my friends are not coming to Iowa this year. Would ya'll allow a none member to hang with you if I don't go to Iowa? I like to ride and "see the scenery" and prefer to not break too much stuff but not afraid of the harder line, but not a fan of the undoable line. My wife not a wheeler, so would be by myself unless a friend makes it along with me. How far are the trails from the campground? my rig is street able, just slow. thanks, mike.

I'm a former member myself. I've been out of the 4x4 scene for a couple of years. Come one come all. These campgrounds are at the trail head so you'll be fine. John is known as truckman and also a neibor of mine. It should very enjoyable.

Is everyone staying at the campground? camping or renting a cabin? or hotel in town? Have either of you been to Harlen before? looks like some of the trails can get pretty nasty. Just trying to decide if I go how much I need to get finished on my rig. Also, thinking of doing a couple parks during the full week, just got to take enough spares and play it safe til the end or week could get short quick with a major breakage. Just still rattling this idea around in my head. so many places to wheel and so little vacation time.

We have rented a cabin at the campground. Have never been to Harlan but have heard good things about the trails.

I have been several times.I would say this is one of my favorite parks. Some of the trails are tough, but most of them have a trail that is easier that goes to the same place.Would love to make this just dont know about work!!!

Not much for pictures but a few. Also a map of the trails we covered. We did 50 miles of trail in 3 days.
