Hmmmm Ok . How bout the 352?
Or Dare I mention......the 351/400M =Gay (sorry Pumpkin)
Them two jewels wont get out of their own way
.

Dodgeman what the heck are you going with a frucken Chevrolet. I believe we all know what that stands for, cracked heads and oil leaking and all that,
Granted the TTB wasnt the best of the Ford famous (Better Ideas) but let talk about the 352 and the 351M, I believe the 352 was discontinue about the same time the 350 came out,  So is that a fair comparison NO, also the 352 style engine was known as the FE family engine, now what says performance about that (nothing) but the 390 and the 428 were also FE engines and for sure had more than a 350 wanted, 351M-400 not a performance either, came out in heavy cars and trucks, TRUCKS thats rite trucks, put me a chevy-350 tied to a ford-351M with the same gearing and tires and my moneys on the Ford. Torque is the name of our game and that what both them ford engines were built for, and I not even a ford fan, Mopars are my game

Yep in my opinion it was a the most impressive old school small block chevy ever made, give me a destroked 327 that will turn 9000 out of the box, yes sir, I had the pleasure of driveing one stock mind you, and it was a most impressive ride,

I came across enough stuff to build the short block for a GM 302 for 100 Bones
Dad had a steel crank.
Bad thing is its small journal. But Somebody told me you can get main bearings that will allow you to put a small journal crank in a large journal block. If thats true , thats what Ill do and sell this block I got to somebody building a numbers matching car

That just doesn't sound like a good idea.

They do make such bearings, but turning 8 to 10000 RMP not sure I would trust them. I would use the block I had, for find me a good 327 block or punch out a 283 block and sleeve it if that can be done,  I've never built a 327 but have built several 350s for friends, and do love the 6 inch rods compaired to the 5.7s, 75 extra foot pounds of torque got by adding rods, not to mention all the extra RMPs it frees up,

I dont see why it would be a bad idea unless there would be a oiling issue. Journal size difference is .100" between the two . Seems to me the webbing would be thicker on the mains which would be good.....harder to spin one.

Theres only 3 years of 283 that can be bored .120" to achieve a 4" bore. They are like a needle in a haystack. All other years bust through the water jackets before they hit 4"  .

I have  67 casted 327 short block(SJ) I bought off a guy for building a 302 with. Got the steel crank from my ole man.

Good luck either way you decide you go, Ive only seen a few true DZ,s and man they were all wicked, and they were all bone stock, would love to see one built with all the modern stuff we have now, Roller rockers, roller bump stick, high flow aluminum heads, damn all this has got me wanting to get back into drag racing, but it would still have tobe a mopar

Well tha plan would be a streetable version in a s10 -
Forged 30 over flats or 120 domes
true roller everything
completely balanced and indexed (or whatever its called when the pistons are the milled to the same height)
Debating on a carb or aftermarket FI
Def some hiflo heads cast or alum are fine by me

If I ever do somthin with that motor it ought tear the rice burners a new azzhole

Dabbs was prolly right. That motor wouldve wanted to turn too many R's for a trail rig

Sorry andy but the vortecs are my only choice dodge sucks cuz everything cost a TON even tho I am a dodge guy there to exspensive to build I did a mild 318 build and the monny I spent doing that I could have one freaken awsome 350 and I would rather have a go kart engine than a ford and a yota engine well it doesent diserve a spot on this thread.

And the vortecs last well have good power for a stock engine and they are cheap to build. But you can blame this on Adam and Dwight woodly for putting the vortec in my head but mostly Dwight
